Question Time with the Police Commissioner

Colonel Peter McCall the Cumbria Police and Crime Commissioner met 21 young people at Coffee Kitchen.

Every time when someone comes for a Q&A they are amazed how our young people ask many good questions. We always have to stop at a certain time and there never were that awkward pause.

Peter also brought his guitar and got them to sing, How great is our God. As usual we ended with Chocolate brownies, Flapjacks and Hot Chocolate

June 1st and 2nd, 2018

Big Church Day Out

9 young people travelled from Cockermouth to the Big Church Day out on the 31st of May and camped out in Cheshire for 2 nights.

All had a fabulous time watching various worship bands playing and engaging with some of them, tasting different food each day from various vendors and buying souveniors.

Thank you to Paul and the two boys who went a day ahead to put up the tents.

Taize style worship

Few young people met at the Garden House, Cockermouth and worshipped using Taize prayers and music.

Unfortunately we could not meet at St Bridget's Church in Bridekirk.

2nd of April, 2017

24hr Justice Experience

Around 15 young people came together to learn and share about justice. Looked particularly about slavery. Found out a bit about slavery in Cumbria too.

We met at URC Cockermouth and had a sleepover in church over night.

ABlaze Now

ABlaze Now was organised by Network Youth Church Leaders across Cumbria. It was a full day of fun and thought-provoking seminars and exciting activities for all young people aged 11-18 (in school years 6 - 13).

Afternoon with Canon Andrew White

Our young people were delighted to spend an afternoon with Canon Andrew White, fondly known as the Vicar of Baghdad.

He narrated hair raising stories of his time in Iraq and how God's protection is with him all the time.

He was eager to give them gifts and encouraged them to ask questions as well.

JUMP leaders kindly invited young people from other youth groups and provided a lovely BBQ.

Question Time with the Archbishop of York

76 Young people and 44 youth leaders attended the evening with ABY at Hundith Hill Hotel on Friday during Moving Mountains.

The ABY responded to questions from young people about bullying, forgiveness, gay marriage and many more.

All enjoyed a meal of chips and chicken goujons, and was entertained with a session of drumming by Andy Kelly.

Around 30 young people from Derwent met with MP for Workington to learn about life as an MP and policies affecting young people and the country.

The young people of JUMP enjoyed a bonfire night at Cockermouth. An interesting evening with some unexpected questions. The conversation will carry on for a while.

Slum Survivor

With Solway Deanery young people we did a joint Slum Survivor program at St John's Church Workington

Many young people from all over Cumbria come together to attend this camp at Braithwaite.

Although we are not involved in organising this exciting week of fun for young people, we encourage young people from our youth clubs and cafe's to attend.

This year many young people attended and were blessed.

Philosophy Ethics and Religion

Bishop Jonathan met with 25 years 10 and 11 students and 25 years 12 and 13 students an hour each on Friday morning of Moving Mountains at Cockermouth School.

They have prepared in advance around 50 questions which Bishop Jonathan was able to catergorise into 5 sections and engage with them.

The students and teachers were impressed and some students stayed on and spoke to Bishop Jonathan afterwards..

Activities at Ennerdale Lake

Around 30 young people from Derwent and Clader NYC's came together for activities on and by the lake for a day. Played together, ate together and finished with worship. We were joined by a exchange student from Chernobyl.

Joint Social

Around 20 young people from Cockermouth and Lorton areas came together to enjoy an evening of socialising and playing games and eating plenty of food. The evening concluded with the young people coming up with some random words and the leaders have to talk about it and link it to God. Some of the random words were; Placebo, Platypus, Marshmellows, Jellyfish etc.

An Evening with Bishop James

28 young people came to meet the bishop and quiz him on many things such as if he plays chess to is there anyone in this world he would kill. It was a great evening at Coffee Kitchen ended with hot chocolate and chocolate brownies.
